How can I fit exercise into my crazy schedule?

By: Meg Dilts

If you set a high goal for yourself to start exercising, it might just become to overwhelming to keep it. If you have a full time job and a family to take care of, exercising can be hard. You work 9 to 5, drive kids to their activities, dinner, and homework. By the time kids are on bed, you're just way to tired to do anything. On weekend, you are probably as busy as weekdays.

But exercising is very important and you have to start as soon as possible. The trick to do is to break it down to smaller time frames. Here are some tricks that might help you:

    * Break your daily exercise into several time blocks. Even 5 to 10 minutes each time. Take a 10-minute walk while waiting for your kids finishing their soccer practice.

    * Stay active. Park the car further in the parking lot so you can walk longer. Use stairs at work. Skip the elevator at work or in stores.

    * If you work in the city, walk to lunch and walk back.

    * If you're on the phone a lot, get a cordless phone. Stand and walk around while on the phone.

    * Yard work and household chores also count as physical activity.

So as we can see, starting with smaller steps and breaking things down really make a difference.
